‘... it would be hard to overestimate the significance of the gift of the John Kaldor Family Collection, a milestone that happens once in a century. It will be a transforming experience for the Art Gallery of NSW.’
– Edmund Capon, director, Art Gallery of NSW
This is the first display in our new floor of galleries, featuring a vibrant selection of works from the most comprehensive collection of international and Australian contemporary art in the country. A significant new addition is the John Kaldor Family Gallery. One of Australia’s most passionate collectors of contemporary art, John Kaldor has given his extensive collection to the Gallery, spanning 50 years of works from the leading artists of our time.
Also part of the new contemporary galleries is our first dedicated photography gallery and the contemporary project space.
